Krav Maga

Q: “Should I be in good shape to get started?”

Not at all. When people first start our Carson City Krav Maga classes, they're all over the spectrum of physical fitness. Some are like star athletes. Others haven't worked out in years. Wherever you fall on this spectrum, don't worry about it. Just come, have a great time, and learn the awesome art of Krav Maga.

Q: “I have a medical condition / past injury. Can I still take Krav Maga?”

Most likely, the answer is yes. Speak to your doctor, and let us know what he / she says. We'll gladly work with what your doctor has to say to provide you with a safe, fun experience.

Q: “Can I get injured?”

Injuries are very rare here. We've put a lot of work into designing a program that's both fun & effective - while being extremely safe. Our Carson City Krav Maga classes have a track record for being injury-free.

Q: “What kind of atmosphere are these classes? (Fun? Serious? etc.?)”

Every one of our Krav Maga classes goes through a range of atmospheres. At times, it's highly focused and serious. At other times it's goofy and fun. We try to create a good mixture of both so you learn a lot while having fun.

Adult Martial Arts

Q: “Can martial arts cause injury?”

Because we place such a huge focus on safety and injury prevention, we're proud to say that injuries are very few and far between with our program. In fact, because martial arts gets you in great shape, and makes you strong and flexible, people often see LESS injuries in their lives.

Q: “What level of fitness is required for martial arts?”

You'll get in shape as you go. You don't have to be in great shape to start.

The great thing about martial arts is you can be at any fitness level and do great. That's because there's no rush or pressure to do anything quickly. You can learn at your own pace.

If you have a knack for it, you can speed through techniques. If it's a bit harder for you, take your time. All we care about is that you're having fun, learning and progressing, and staying safe.

Q: “Is there violence involved in martial arts?”

People often mistake self-defense for violence. We teach self-defense here.

Self-defense means doing everything in your power to AVOID violence! It means being diplomatic and peaceful. In fact, people who have had problems with violence in the past often become peaceful and balanced through martial arts.

Kids Martial Arts

Q: “Will Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do teach my child to be hostile and aggressive?”

Absolutely not. Children learn a lot about what it means to be respectful and polite here. As a result, kids who weren't violent in the first place become even more respectful and kind. Kids with behavior problems often become very respectful and calm.

Q: “Does my child face a risk for injury with Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Our program is extremely safe. We have measures upon measures in place to ensure that your child will stay safe, and have a great time. From stretching to warmups to very close supervision - we've got your child covered. Injuries do happen sometimes - but they're quite rare.

Q: “Are these Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do classes fun?”

Yes! After all, these are children we're dealing with here. And kids love their fun. We do a variety of games and activities that have kids howling with laughter, and constantly smiling. We work hard here - but we play just as hard.

Q: “Do children's confidence & self-esteem grow with Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Absolutely. Kids with low self-esteem often come out of their shells. As their skill level increases, they feel more and more confident. Other kids look up to them, just as they look up to other kids who are ahead of them. It builds a sense of confidence, pride, and teamwork.

Q: “How old should my child be to start Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do?”

Any age! Most kids range from 5 to teenagers, but we have kids who are younger, too. Classes are customized to suit children of different ages. A teenager receives very different treatment than a 6 year old, for example.

Q: “Is Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do for boys AND girls? Or just boys?”

Martial arts are for boys and girls. Our classes have a good mix of both, too. So if you're worried about your girl being alone in a group of boys, wipe that worry from your mind!

Q: “My child isn't athletic. Can they still participate in Martial Arts, Karate, Tae Kwon Do if they're not athletic?”

Yes! In fact, martial arts is a beacon of light for kids who just don't fit into team sports. Kids who couldn’t throw a ball well or run fast find that martial arts is accessible to them. It's something they excel at, and as a result, their confidence soars. Plus...no one is left out or sits the bench at No Limits Martial Arts! We make sure everyone gets personal time to work on specific needs for success!

Womens Kickboxing

Q: "Will my class be in a group or 1-on-1?"

Most likely you'll be in a group class. However we gladly offer private classes for those that are interested. Feel free to ask any of our instructors for more info on private classes!

Q: “How many other people will there be in my class?”

You can most likely expect 15-30, give or take a few depending on the day / time. We always make sure there are enough instructors no matter the class size though.

Q: “Are there other beginners like me?”

Yes! Our classes cater to people of all experience levels, and in every class there are people all over the spectrum.

Q: “Can you help me with my eating / nutrition?”

Absolutely. We offer nutritional guidance as part of your membership (at no additional cost).

Q: “Is your class a ‘Cardio Kickboxing' class?”

No! These classes are very, very different from Cardio Kickboxing. It's hard to describe how much different they are, but once you come in you'll see for yourself ;-)
